By now you would think I would know better. Seemingly not.
Yesterday I woke up feeling crap. Today - same. Not motivated, headachy, lethargic.... just generally crap. Perhaps I am getting sick? Or pehaps it is because I didn't eat properly over the weekend. My plan kinda went out the window. Saturday afternoon there was a vanilla slice followed by Red Rock Deli chips & skim hot chocolate (like the skim is going to help at this point!) as my afternoon snack. Dinner was a bowl of cereal cause I couldn't be bothered with the stirfry I had planned.
Sunday went pretty much the same way... cereal for breakfast (not my planned eggs), portuguese tart and skim hot chocolate for morning snack. The day did improve from there with lean chicken, fruit, yogurt and lots of water. Still no vegies though.
Seriously, you would think I would know how that makes me feel!!! Back to plan today, and because I didn't want to get out of bed at 5.30am and go for a run I now have to go after work.

Running
Another question for fellow runners out there - does anyone know any good techniques to get breathing under control? I have to try really really hard to control my breathing when I pick up pace - my breathing ends up pretty shallow and fast, and then I start to feel sick. I'm OK on my long runs outside at what I consider my comfortable pace, but when I do intervals on the tready I really notice it. Can't imagine what the person next to me thinks!!!
Any tips or resources would be much appreciated.

City2Surf
A shameless plug to sponsor me.... go on... you know you want to!!!
I am going to bust my arse training for City2Surf again this year, and thought I'd do it for a reason that is close to my heart. One of my best friends has a son diagnosed with Autism - not much is known about the cause and there is no known cure.
I am trying to raise as much money as I can for this great cause. Please click on this link to visit my very own fundraising page to find out all about it. Please dig deep to sponsor me. It only takes a few seconds and you'll encourage me to keep running up Heartbreak Hill.
Spread the word and send to as many people as possible.
Thank you very much.

45 Days to City2Surf
This time last year I had commenced my seemingly unachievable mega training plan for City2Surf. I had just started running, could do about 3km "comfortably", and run/walk 5km. In about 2 months I got up to running 16km, with only a short break at the 8km mark. No walking. It was a slow 16km, but I did it - and a massive achievement for me.
Race day was not as great as I planned - I did it in 148 minutes, had to walk alot of heartbreak hill, and I managed to dehydrate myself so struggled and then felt sick after. Lesson learnt - drink lots BEFORE you run. Don't worry about toilet breaks - if you have to go, you have to go!
So it is time to put that training plan into place again. I am in a much better starting position - I do 5km regularly, and could probably do 10km if I put my mind to it. I haven't been doing any longer runs cause they don't help me with my number one goal which is fat loss. Tonight I am going home to dig out that training plan, adjust accordingly and write it all in my diary.
This week I have made a turnaround in my eating. I had been really really lazy, and really really bad. No planning, no healthy snacks in the house, too much chocolate, chips, alcohol. I was feeling pretty ordinary - both physically and mentally. Sunday night saw me back on CK planning my meals, writing a shopping list and going to the supermarket. I know how to do this - I've done it before. I just needed to give myself a good kick in the arse! I had forgotten how good my fav snack is - fresh berries, low fat yogurt mixed with protein powder and crunchola. Yum!
Have been training like a demon this week. Monday was a treadmill cardio session - walking inclines alternated with jogging. Tuesday boxing PT session in the AM, rock climbing in the PM. Today was a PT session - cardio & weights.
I have read on some blogs about people using Cardio Coach and other podcasts etc for their cardio sessions. Anyone have any good recommendations? I want to put something on my ipod that will keep me on the treadmill when it is too cold and dark to run outside - I need someone in my ear!!!

Running again
Friday morning I managed my first running session since I sprained my hamstring. I did 800s supersetted with sumo squats, shoulder press, dead lifts and crunches. It was a tough session! Hammy didn't hurt at all during the session but have been a bit sore since. Back to physio today and hopefully that will be my last session.

Training
I have found a downside to having 2 PTs... there comes a point when one doesn't agree with what the other is doing. My Tuesday weight sessions with Dan have been getting heavier and heavier - this week I was unable to train for 2 days after a leg session from hell.
And there lies the problem - I shouldn't be doing weights to a point where I have to stop training for 2 days after... at least not on a Tuesday. On a Friday when I follow up with a rest day isn't so bad, but I don't want rest days during the week.
Rusty has a point - my number 1 goal is fat loss. Weight training to a point where my quads and glutes are so painful for days after is not going to help that. A mild or "normal" case of DOMS after is OK... not immobility. It is not often they disagree - which is good for me!
So I'm going to have a chat to Dan and back off a bit on the weights on Tuesdays, as I need to be able to do cardio on Wed & Thurs. Smashing my legs on a Tuesday doesn't help with this at all! Seriously, I have NEVER been in that much pain after a weights session. I am getting stronger though... I leg pressed 190KG!!!!

Lazy lazy blogger
I haven't really had much to say lately. I am still cruising along in the same weight range that I have been for the past 6 months, but am actually not trying to do anything about it! My weightloss mojo has been a bit non-existant lately.
Have been having way too much fun - a few big nights out (like, every weekend and the occasional during the week) have meant I am a little off plan. Eating has been OK (not great, but OK), but drinking more than I usually would. I am normally a one big night a month kind of girl, but have been socialising with the work crew alot and having a damn good time!
Also have had a hamstring injury for about 2 weeks which has put a stop to running, boxing and made me pretty careful with the weights. Still doing bike, Xtrainer and weights everywhere but my hammys. Light weights on hammys only. Back to physio today - but I don't feel any improvement from last week. I still can't run :(
Going to have to miss out on the MiniMos run this weekend which I was actually looking forward to.
I hate having an injury and having to think so much about what I can and can't do at the gym. In almost 2 years of training I have managed to remain injury free. Apart from the odd luxurious massage I haven't had any kind of therapy like physio at all. Making up for it now though.
I need to get back on the 'lose weight trail' instead of the 'maintain trail'. I need to go back to calorieking and start logging and planning my meals. I need to start weighing myself daily again. I need a good kick in the arse!!!
