I have been hibernating from the world because quite frankly, my world sucks at the moment.
Adding to the job and househunting woes of last week, my Nana died last Tuesday night. She has been sick for 2 years, so it was a blessing, but I have been really surprised at how hard it hit me. Mum was the same.
So I had Wednesday off work because I was sooking most of the day. Then Thursday Mum and Dad arrived in Sydney as planned for our Easter long weekend. Had a great time (considering) until Sunday when I woke up with no balance and vomiting. Dad drove me to the doctor, and I have a middle ear virus. Nothing but rest and fluids can fix it. I have tablets to stop the nausea. So spent Sunday lying on a matress on my lounge room floor while I sent Mum and Dad out for food and supplies.
Monday we had to fly to the Gold Coast and hire a car to drive to northern NSW where Nana's funeral was. I felt alot better than I did on Sunday, but still not great. At least I could walk though.
Tuesday was the funeral. Very traumatic - we were crying before we even walked into the church. Anyway, we got through it. Arrived back in Sydney late last night totally exhausted.
So today is a new day. I am back at work. Probably not being very productive, but I am here and not wallowing at home. I'm not training this week because I'm sick - but that effects my frame of mind as well because I love it so much. So to distract myself I have booked in my PT sessions for next week, I am going to see Wil Anderson on Friday night for a good laugh and I am organising dinner catchups with friends 3 weeks in advance. I am counting down the minutes until I can go outside for a little stroll at lunchtime.
As for weight loss - not eating and vomiting for a day did wonders. I suspect that was only temporary though... and nowhere near as much fun as going to the gym. I do not recommend it at all.

Dan is back!
Trained with Dan yesterday and boy am I feeling it today! I didn't ride my bike in to work this morning because I am in way too much pain. It hurts to sit, stand, walk and don't even talk to me about stairs... and that is just my legs!
We did high reps for a change of pace. 3 sets of 18 - and I still did reasonably heavy weights. One would think that I was the one who took 7 weeks off from the gym - no - I trained nearly every day, and did PT twice a week.

To run or not to run
I haven't been doing much running lately. I am going through a stage where I just don't enjoy it... at all. The only running I have done in the past 3 weeks is in my PT sessions.
That said though, I have been riding my bike everywhere. To and from work everyday, to the gym, and to friend's places. I am loving it!
I had planned on doing the 8km Mother's Day Classic in May, 10km MiniMos in June and 14km City2Surf in August. If I am going to do that, I need to kick in with the training pretty soon as 8km will really hurt! So do I push through the pain and get back into running, or do I go with what makes me happy at the moment and stick with bike riding, weights and a bit of running with my PT?

My crap week continues
My work have just announced our office is moving to Thornleigh at the end of the year. Thornleigh is the arse end of the earth - even if I had a car it would be an hour in peak traffic. The only food within walking distance to the office is McDonalds. There's no gym. It would be an hour on the train from North Sydney... and even that is 3km from my house.
Not happy.
Not happy.

Serious Lack of Posting
Life just gets in the ways sometimes! Work has been really really busy. I have had a traumatic week and haven't even had time to scratch myself. I'll give you the short version...
1. Have had trouble with a certain staff member at work. He is aggressive, swears, argues, doesn't do any work... and if he does we have to re-do it before we show a client. While there were grounds for instant dismissal we didn't want to do this because of his mental state. I had a couple of nights where I went home in tears after working very long days, because I just didn't know how to deal with it anymore. But last week he resigned and we paid him his 4 weeks notice and asked him to leave straight away, and advised he use the time to seek counselling.
2. I didn't get finance for my BR surgery as I have only been in my job for 4 months. While I was in my last job for 6.5 years and earn enough money I don't tick one particular box, and therefore they won't even consider it. If only they had told me this in the first place I wouldn't have applied for another 2 months.
3. I received notice that my rent is going up $200 a month in June. There is no way I can afford that, so I am going to move. I think I am going to look for a flatmate so that I can still get a half decent place and save a bit more money.
4. I have a cold. Not feeling too bad yet... but I think by tomorrow I will be pretty darn miserable.
So that is my last week... the short version! I still trained this morning - I figure if it is just a head cold I am not going to make it any worse by training. I did a weights session and only a little bit of cardio. The scales have been so up and down. I have been hovering between 82kg and 78kg since August. I am fitter and smaller but the scales don't show it. I guess that doesn't really matter - but it is frustrating. Dan is back later this week, so will do my assessments again next week.
