Update

So I went off to my friendly healthstore and heard some advice that I actually already knew and had conveniently forgotten about :)

1. Protein shakes
You know that bucket of powder I keep in my drawer at work, and the one in my pantry at home? Yeah, well, you are supposed to actually use it! I have been really slack lately and haven't been using any of my protein powder after training... so back to it.

2. Glutamine
Take Glutamine. I'm going to try find it in capsule form, because I can't face another powder mixed with water. Here's what I found out about it...

Occurrences in nature
Glutamine is the most abundant naturally occurring, non-essential amino acid in the human body. In the body it is found circulating in the blood as well as stored in the skeletal muscles. It becomes conditionally essential (requiring intake from food or supplements) in states of illness or injury.

Dietary sources
Dietary sources of glutamine include beef, chicken, fish, eggs, milk, dairy products, cabbage, beets, beans, spinach, and parsley. Small amounts of free L-glutamine are also found in vegetable juices and fermented foods, such as miso.[1]

So as of today, I am going back to doing what I need to to feel better. Protein shakes, glutamine, multi vitamin, vitamin C and the SSPC from my naturopath. I want my energy back, I want to be bouncing off walls again, and I don't want 3 days of pain after I train!

Stuff

Sorry I haven't been blogging much. My focus has not been on weight loss at all lately (and it shows!). Have been keeping up with the training, but not really with my clean eating plan... there's been way too many cheat meals!

Still haven't made any big career decisions. I have even more choices now and am at the final stages. I am really trying to make sure that I find something I am really happy with.

I am oh so sore today. I had PT sessions booked for yesterday and today, so thought I would do some boxing yesterday so that I am not too sore for weights today. BIG mistake!!!! I can barely walk because when I first stand up I can't straighten my legs. My whole core hurts when I laugh. I spent half an hour stretching this morning, but sitting at a desk undoes all that good work and I am in pain every time I get out of my chair (and I drink alot of water, if you know what I mean!!!). My PT had to cancel this morning's session and I was secretly really glad cause I wouldn't be able to do much. Swimming is about all I could manage right now.

I am wondering how to get the best results from my training. Am I better off training my arse off to the point where I have a good case of DOMS for 2-3 days after (which is what I have been doing), and then having a rest day? Or should I be not pushing myself quite as hard so I can train 6 days a week? Honestly I can't even back up a weights day with cardio I am so sore. I was even sore from my run on Sunday cause I really pushed myself up some hills and stairs. Training different body parts on different days (ie. upper body day 1, lower body day 2) doesn't really work for me as I share my PT sessions with someone else because it is cheaper.

I'm also going to head off to my friendly health store at lunchtime and ask their advice. Maybe there is a supplement I should be taking after my training to aid my recovery. If anyone has any advice here it would be greatly appreciated.

Life update

I still haven't made any big decisions about my job or living arrangements. Well I kind of have, just waiting on some answers from other people!!

I have found myself a fabulous job - just waiting to see if they realise just how fabulous I am. Hoping for an answer today, but could take longer. It is doing exactly what I want to do and the company seems great. Long hours, but the $$$ should make it worth it. Personal training twice a week is included (super excited about that), but I will probably still train with Rusty and Dan as well. I see it as bonus training really. It is on the "other" side of the bridge, so I may get myself a little scooter to wizz myself around town. Anyway, fingers crossed that I get the job.

If I get this job I may stay living by myself. I love my apartment, love living by myself and can't be arsed moving. I do have another option up my sleeve which is sharing with a friend of mine. If that works out, then I am happy with that cause I will save heaps more money that way. I'm not too keen on living with a stranger though.

I had a "mental health" day yesterday. I woke up with a massive headache so took the day off and went back to sleep. Work is really crap at the moment - there's alot going on that I won't talk about here, but I think it finally got to me. A day of rest was required. Feeling much better today.

New hair

I've got new hair!!! I love it... although I did go to the gym this morning and have to wash it after paying for a fabulous blow dry last night. It will take a bit of getting used to, but I still love it!

I've found my mojo

I've got it back! Finally faced the scales and back to 82.5kg. That means I am 1kg less than my post xmas weight, but 3kg up on where I got to a few weeks ago.

Trained yesterday and today after having 2 weeks off. Still don't fill quite right - the room spins occasionally, but I enjoyed every minute of it and I have that happy exhausted feeling you get after a big weights session. Rest day tomorrow I think.

Going food shopping at lunchtime to stock up on fruit & veg and going to get some fish as well. Looking forward to it actually!
